Tom
Bertling - Vocals, Acoustic and Electric Guitars
If
you listen to the crowd when Tom Bertling plays, you always
hear the same things, Who is that guy, and What
an incredible singer.
Flattering comments for a humble man who is so thankful
for the gift he has been given. Tom Bertling is
one of twelve children, raised in Delphos, a small town in northern
Ohio. Some of his earliest musical influences, were listening
to his grandmother play and sing old folk songs, and tuning
in to CKLW, an A.M. radio station in the Windsor/Detroit area.
As a result, there is a wonderful mixture of pop, jazz,
twang and groove in his repertoire.
Tom
began playing in clubs originally as a solo artist, and then
graduated to two and three piece combos.
He has played in smoky dark corners of more pubs, dives,
and roadhouses than he can remember. His unique vocal style and original
music have allowed him to open for various artists such as the
renowned blues artist Koko Taylor. He has lived and played in Tampa
Bay, Dallas, Phoenix, and Nashville.
While living in Nashville he worked at T.N.N. (The Nashville
Network) for four years. He had the honor of playing on
the Grand Ole Opry Stage twice, and numerous showcase clubs
such as, The Bluebird, The Bell Cove Club, Douglas Corner,
etc. The Nashville
experience enabled him to live and work with some of the best
song writers in the music industry.
Back from his journeys, he is ready to share his musical
treasures with you. Contact Tom directly at tom@smootmahooty.com.
